I've never done a second post in one day before, but after playing around with some more cover designs, I'd like to get some feedback from people. Looking at the previous post and now this one, are any of these covers heading in the right direction, or do I need to try something else entirely? With these two below the only difference is the font used for my name at the bottom. If I did go with ones similar to this, are there different fonts and colors you think might work better? I kind of like red, but when reduced to a thumbnail it doesn't stand out as well as white or yellow.
This next one I just played with 'kerning', which changed the spread of the characters.

I like the top one. The consistency of the fonts is pleasing, plus the dot under the o gives it a little otherworldliness that I think is fitting... another language without actually BEING another language, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI do, Hart. I read in one post, though, that using the same font was amateurish, so it made me question my judgement that I liked it.
ReplyDeleteHi Ted.
ReplyDeleteI like the one on the top best because I feel your name is easier to read. That's important.
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving even though you are abroad, I suspect you still can eat a feast.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Mary. We are doing turkey. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Now I'm trying to figure out some of the recommendations from the previous post, such as 'kerning'.
ReplyDeleteI like the bottom one, because your name is larger. I liked the image from your first post better though.
ReplyDeletei'm not sure what the general feel of THE SHARD is, but i'm pretty sure the font that you've chosen here is the same that they use on American Horror Story, so with the red and black you're going to be getting readers with that kind of expectation here...
ReplyDeletelet me look at your other post...
I hadn't heard of that one before, Vic, but you are right that it looks like they stole my font!
ReplyDeleteAlex, the only worry I have about using the larger image from that picture is that it gives away the plot point about the dragon being dead already.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the painting not so zoomed in.
