It has been a little more than three weeks since I published my first novel, and I thought it would be interesting to compare different sites to see how they have fared with sales. This assumes that all of these sites have properly updated the data as of yesterday. I figure this can give a rough idea of just how difficult it is for a new, unknown author to gain any attention. I believe the book is of high quality, and it has been drawing very good reviews so far.
Amazon trade paperback edition - 20 units sold
Amazon Kindle ebook edition - 69 sold
Kobo ebook - 1 sold
GooglePlay - No data (or it may mean nothing has been sold)
B&N Nook - 5 sold
Apple iTunes - 2 sold

That's still good for three weeks. If your book is selling well on Amazon, that means it's in the rankings and others are finding it as a result.
ReplyDeleteI've been up as high as #2 in Hot New Releases, but I haven't actually seen any clear sales from people just finding it on Amazon. I seem to get the sales bumps when I post links in various groups on FB mostly.
DeleteGood luck. It sounds like your book is off to a good start.
ReplyDeleteIf only it would continue, Elizabeth!
DeleteHey, not bad. And they do say it takes as many as three to five books to really start getting the sales traction going. But no doubt good reviews help. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's what worries me, L.G.--I'm a very slow writer! It could be eight more years before I have four books.
